History

Josh Ansley has been singing and performing ever since childhood. He attended Lomagundi High School in Chinhoyi where he gained popularity for playing the role of Kinicke in the rendition of the popular 1978 American musical comedy “Grease”. This role is what started the passion for music and entertainment and on leaving school, Josh was involved in many productions at the Reps Theatre in Harare Zimbabwe.

It was there that Josh’s artistic journey evolved while starring in many musicals such as: Cabaret, Rent, and Joseph and the Technicolored Dream Coat. He then headed to Los Angeles in the United States to take his career further.

After making a short movie “Marza”, the call of Africa lead him back to start performing as a regular on the Barnyard Theatre circuit in South Africa. It was during this stint in his life that he fell in love and married his wife Kerryn.

“After all the years of auditions and travelling around, Kerryn deserves a better, more settled life, which is why I entered The Voice,” he explained. Josh’s blistering rendition of the AC/DC head-banging classic “Shook Me All Night Long” got him four chair turns and incredibly high praise from the panel of coaches. But it was Bobby van Jaarsveld who turned for Josh first, and with that #TeamBobby gained an energetic new member.

Leaving the Voice Season 2 as the Runner Up, was a boost for his career leading to many big events and shows such as: Starlight Classics, Rock of Ages the Musical, Six String Stories, a Journey Tribute Show and more. But in 2021, with their little girl on the way, it was decided that being around family to raise their child was a dream they couldn’t let go of. Josh and Kerryn moved back to Zimbabwe where they are still based. Opening for Prime Circle and UB40 feat. Ali Campbell have been some of the highlights of 2022 and 2023 and he looks forward to many more amazing shows in the future.
